    Social ad specs and tips

A mockup is the fastest way to get an ad approved and to spot problems before you spend money: copy cut off by "See more", a headline that wraps badly, or a key detail cropped out of the image.

    Image sizes

    • Facebook & Instagram feed: 1080×1350 (4:5) takes up the most screen on mobile. 1080×1080 (1:1) is the safe all-rounder. 1200×628 (1.91:1) works but looks small in a phone feed.
    • Instagram & Facebook Stories / Reels: 1080×1920 (9:16). Keep text and logos out of roughly the top and bottom 14% so the profile bar and CTA button don't cover them. Turn on safe zones above to check.
    • LinkedIn single image: 1200×627 (1.91:1) or 1200×1200 (1:1).

    Copy

    • Primary text: only about the first 125 characters show before "See more" on Facebook and Instagram, and about 150 on LinkedIn. Put the hook there.
    • Headline: keep it to around 40 characters so it doesn't get cut off on mobile.
    • Match the landing page. The headline on the page people land on should continue the ad's promise. Need a quick length check across every platform? Try the ad copy checker.

    Creative

    • Design for mobile first. Most social ad impressions are on phones, so check your image at this size.
    • Real photos usually beat stock. Show the product, the result or the people behind the business.
    • Make it readable at a glance. If there's text on the image, keep it short and large.

    FAQ

    Social ad mockup questions

Can't find what you need? Ask us directly.

What is a social ad mockup used for?
Mockups let clients, managers and teammates see what an ad will look like in the feed before it goes live. They're handy for approvals, pitch decks and creative reviews, and for catching problems like text that gets cut off or an image that crops badly.
    Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Images you choose are read by your browser only and never leave your device, including when you download the PNG. They aren't saved in the shareable link either, so the link only holds your text and settings.
Is there a watermark on the download?
No. The PNG is exported at twice the on-screen size with no watermark, so it stays sharp in slides and documents.
What image sizes should I use for each placement?
For Facebook and Instagram feeds, 1080×1080 (1:1) or 1080×1350 (4:5) work best on mobile; 1200×628 (1.91:1) also works but takes up less of the screen. Stories and Reels use 1080×1920 (9:16). LinkedIn single-image ads commonly use 1200×627 (1.91:1) or 1200×1200 (1:1).
Is the mockup exactly what the platform will show?
It's a close approximation of the standard mobile layouts, built for previews and approvals. Real ads vary by device, app version and placement, and the platforms change their designs often. This tool isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Meta or LinkedIn.
